What is the Reno Dance Expo?

RDX is a 3-day dance festival to celebrate and showcase the world of dance here in Reno, Nevada (The Biggest Little City). It is a place for people of all walks of life and experience to learn, network, and party together!

Each day of the event follows a common format:
  • Every day starts with 8 hours workshops taught by world-renowned instructors, with a break for lunch.
  • After the workshops, a longer break allows attendees to grab dinner and refresh themselves for the evening party.
  • The evening starts with a performance showcase, featuring both amateur and professional dance groups.
  • After the performances, the ballrooms open up for 6 hours of social dancing (until sunrise)!
In addition to the regular format, the festival kicks off with a Thursday evening pre-party (small workshop followed by open social dancing).

And don't forget about the pool party on Sunday afternoon! We take over the pool of the GSR hotel for 5 hours of dancing in the sun!

I'm looking for dance classes. Is a dance festival the right place for me?

Our festival aims to provide world-class education to all skill levels, even if you've barely ever set foot in a dance studio! We provide beginner workshops to help introduce beginner and advanced dancers to new styles. And with our world famous instructors, you can be sure to start your dance education from a solid foundation.

Do I have to know how to dance to attend?

No way! Our workshops cater to all dance levels. We have a little bit of something for everyone.
  • For beginners who have no dance experience, we offer many opportunities to learn your first steps, in all of our offered dance styles.
  • Intermediate and advanced dancers can focus on workshops based on performance styling and choreography.
  • For pros, you'll have the chance to book private lessons with some of the best instructors in the world.

What dance styles can I find at the festival?

We aim to provide dance education and entertainment for all dance styles! The core of the festival is built around Afro-Latin dances (salsa, bachata, kizomba, hip hop); most of the workshops will be based upon these styles. However, you can expect to see more in our performances!

Don't worry; if you want to show off your skills in another dance style, the ballroom is big enough for everything! Find an open space and play!

Can you tell me more about your dance instructors and performers?

We bring instructors to the expo from all over the world. Many are world champions; some even franchise their techniques.

But, we also represent local talent! Some are local dance teachers. If you are interested in continuing your dance education, please book lessons with them at their local studios!

In our performance showcases, we also like to represent a broad array of talent. All of our instructors will showcase special dance performances. Some of our other acts are professional teams who often travel to perform. Others will be local or amateur groups, perhaps even performing for their first time in front of an audience! It takes a lot of courage to do so and we want to encourage everyone to embrace the possibilities of what they can achieve.

Will I get a chance to meet my favorite dance instructors?

Not only will you be able to meet and chat with our world-renowned instructors, you'll very easily be able to dance with them, too! We go out of our way to hire some of the best professionals in the business. Our instructors are not aloof; they love to meet new dancers!

You can be guaranteed to find them on the dance floor all night long. We also aim to hire professionals that are skilled in multiple dance styles. We love to see a break dancer battle it out, then jump up and grab someone for a salsa dance!

Can I bring my kids?

Absolutely! Our event space is open to all ages. With that said, the vast majority of our attendees are adults; everything from college aged to retirees. However, kids are more than welcome to attend. We even offer a reduced price pass for those under 18!

Important note: The pool party is only open to those over the age of 21, due to hosting in the section of the pool that serves alcohol.

Wow, what an amazing festival! I mean, the venue it self was enough to win the crowd but then the artists took it to another level. I enjoyed every minute at the GSR. All thanks to the superb team of organizers. Can't wait for the sequel!
Marce La Bachatera
So refreshing to have a festival where you could meet and dance with the teachers - & what awesome teachers they were! Top international artists for Latin, Zouk & Kizomba. There were many awe inspiring performances from professional as well as amateur dancers & they were performed in an intimate setting which drew the audience in. Not to mention the GSR is a fantastic venue. Can’t wait to see how it grows next year.
