Cesar Salazar
Director of Afrodiziak Dance Company

Born in Santiago de Cuba, Cesar Salazar began his career as a dancer in his late teens, driven by a passion for Cuba’s street dances. His ambition and love for dance quickly helped him advance to the top of Santiago’s dance scene, training with Maestro Armiñian.

He then began performing in shows for Cuba’s famous Tropicana Cabaret, as well as high-profile hotels such as Melia Santiago, Hotel San Juan and Sierra Mar. In 2007 Cesar auditioned and successfully won a position to dance with the Viva Cuba Dance Company, but his plans for the future changed when an opportunity to move to Toronto came along a year later.

A talented dancer with experience in salsa, rumba, samba, son, merengue, bachata, kizomba, semba and afro-cuban, Cesar embraced the diverse dance community in Toronto and the opportunity to further perfect and develop his dance style. Since 2008 Cesar’s teaching career in Canada has included faculty positions with Toronto Dance Salsa, AfroLatino Dance Company and Arthur Murray Dance Studio (Toronto); in addition, he has taught workshops at numerous dance events, including the Canada Kizomba Congress (Toronto), the Toronto Bachata Festival (Toronto), and the Unity Congress (Montreal). His performance credits include the 2011 Season of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, where he was a Top 40 Finalist. Most recently Cesar moved to Vancouver in 2014 and we are excited to welcome him to the Dancey Studios team of instructors.
